Good to know, frequently asked
Where does the journey start and end?
The Art Retreat begins and ends in Asolo, where the group stays throughout the retreat. Known as the “Town of a Hundred Horizons”, Asolo provides a beautiful and inspiring base for exploring the surrounding landscapes, historic towns and vineyards.
What interests does this journey focus on?
This Art Retreat combines watercolour, creative exploration and the art of slowing down. Through plein-air painting, urban sketching, recipe illustration and mixed-media workshops, you will discover Asolo and the surrounding Veneto landscapes from a creative perspective.
Do I need to have previous artistic experience?
Not at all. The workshops are suitable for different levels of experience, from beginners to more experienced artists. Curiosity, openness and a willingness to experiment are much more important than technical expertise.
What art techniques will we explore?
The programme focuses primarily on watercolour, complemented by urban sketching, recipe illustration and mixed media. The workshops take inspiration from historic towns, vineyards, landscapes, local food and the everyday details of life in Veneto.
What language is the art retreat held in?
The workshops with the artist are primarily held in German. English is also spoken throughout the retreat and can be used for communication with the group, local partners and during excursions.
How much time will I spend painting?
The retreat includes six creative workshops and activities, complemented by excursions, shared meals and free time. The programme leaves plenty of space for creative work while also embracing the slower rhythm of the retreat and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
How physically demanding is the art retreat?
This is an easy-paced retreat, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. You should be comfortable walking through historic town centres, including on cobbled streets, steps and uneven surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
How much free time will I have?
The programme combines creative workshops and organised excursions with time to enjoy Asolo and the surrounding area at your own pace. There is room to wander through historic streets, visit a museum, stop for a coffee or simply slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
How will we get around during the retreat?
Private transfers are provided throughout the retreat, ensuring a comfortable and seamless way to travel between the different destinations. Sit back, take in the landscapes and enjoy the journey along the way.
Can I join the art retreat as a solo traveller?
Absolutely. Solo travellers are very welcome. You can either share a double room or, subject to availability, book a room for single use at the applicable supplement.
What kind of accommodation can I expect?
We stay in a carefully selected historical villa b&b in Asolo, chosen for its character, atmosphere and location. The villa provides an inspiring and peaceful base for the creative programme and a wonderful setting to experience the slower rhythm of the region.
Can I join the art retreat if I’m accompanying someone but don’t want to take part in the art workshops?
Absolutely. You are very welcome to join the Art Retreat as an accompanying guest, even if you don’t take part in the art workshops. We offer a special option including accommodation, meals, excursions and everything else included in the programme – except the art workshops. While your partner or friend is getting creative, you can enjoy some dolce far niente or explore the surroundings at your own pace.
